Why I Believe What I Do
It is a hard question, to find out why people believe what they do. When people have a certain opinion of things, they often don’t like to change their mind. Admitting that you are wrong is much harder than arguing. Personally, I think that most information comes from common knowledge. They hear other people talking about things with such certainty, so it must be true. People also like having something or someone to blame things on. If things don’t go quite as planned, people can just think, “oh that happened because God wanted it to happen.”
One of the reasons people believe things is how they were raised. If someone grows up, always living a certain way, without questioning it, then it must be right. I can understand where that is coming from, and I believe that the most important knowledge is passed down through generations. People feel that they need to pass on tradition, and common household remedies or sayings.
The internet is also a huge source of easily accessed information, but whether that information is right is the tricky part. It is quite simple to just Google what you need you know, and have it pop up right away, but that information isn't always the best. Sometimes it is better to chose what is right, over what is easy. The first few search results are usually some sort of Yahoo answer website, questions that can be answered by anyone with an account. People like to believe things because it is much easier than questioning it, and having to work at finding the real information to things.
Some reasons that many people believe that astrology is not based on fact is it is hard to have a real outcome, in tests, because every situation is different. Every personality is different. It is hard to track people and judge how they act. Everything is up for interpretation. Astrology is rejected in the scientific community, because of lack of proof of accuracy. Scientific tests have found no real evidence that astronomy is real, and scientists believe that the alignment of stars are irrelevant to basic biology and physics.
